Blue Diamond (sometimes also known as ‘The Breakfast Club’) is known as a vegetarian restaurant even though they do actually serve meat. Due to an almost entirely vegetarian menu, it is very popular among veggies. When I lived close by, I used to come here almost daily and I never even realised that some of their dishes do actually have meat as an option.

The food is very good, and the portions are good sizes. They do western food as well as Thai and Vietnamese. If you don’t mind that they aren’t strictly vegetarian, there are some other issues to be aware of. It is popular, especially with foreigners, hippies, yogis, back packers, but all types really. In the evenings it can get quite full and if you are eating alone you should be prepared to share your table with a stranger.

In my experience the service is always extremely fast, so fast that it makes the event of going there not that relaxing. They like to serve as many people as possible as quickly as possible and so everything can feel a bit rushed.

The restaurant is clean, modern and also has a pleasant garden, but as I’ve said there isn’t really ample seating so they can tend to struggle slightly to accommodate everyone in the evenings at times.

On another positive note, they sell a good range of healthy products in the store such as cosmetics, oils, breads, snacks and even vegan ice cream, among other things. The cake selection is outstanding and I’ve never seen anywhere else in the city that has a selection this good. They have plenty of vegan options as well as raw options and they really do taste divine. The vegan coconut slice I had there last time was out of this world.

Some of the salads might seem a little overpriced but I personally think it is worth it for the unique selection and the huge portions.
