I  was extremely eager to visit Green Gallery after seeing it featured in the Vegan Island Paradise video made by friends Ken and Eric of HappyCow. I expected to just come across it when I visited Sri Thanu but as it happens this restaurant is slightly off from the main street. I will make the directions very clear here, so that you can head straight for this restaurant as I had intended to do.

From 7-11 in Sri Thanu. Walk out of 7-11 and turn right. When you will very shortly reach the Mediterranean restaurant on the right, you will see a left turn opposite. Take that left turn. Go up that road and you will see Summa Karma restaurant on the right, keep going a little further and then you will see Green Gallery on the left hand side of the road after approximately 200-300 metres.

I honestly do not think I have found a restaurant that is as good as this one in Thailand. The first thing is that the food here is not Thai, it is western and Middle Eastern with a few Asian dishes as well. As much as I love Thai food, it’s always nice to come across something different and the huge menu here offered so many interesting choices. Everything is vegan with no exceptions. They provide a vast selection of raw dishes. They offer sweets and desserts some of which are also raw. They also offer alcohol and they stay open quite late, until 10.00 PM, both of these being quite rare for healthy veggie places and are much appreciated!

I also know that they offer live jam music nights which sound great and I will definitely go back to experience that another time. I could not find a single fault here. The staff are efficient and friendly and there is a lovely vibe about the place which is funky and artsy indoors and is also set in a very pretty garden.

In summary I was really blown away by the quality of Green Gallery. I wish I had more time in Sri Thanu so I could go back and try everything on their menu. I am planning a second trip to go back and do just that. Make Koh Phangan your next holiday destination and do the same thing.
