There are now just two branches of Pun Pun (there used to be a few more), this one and the other one that is in Suan Dok temple grounds. This one is more recent than the Suan Dok branch and is quite different. They have a lot more western options and they have a small, organic vegetable garden on site as well as a grocery store with some interesting products as well as vegan cakes. It is located on a side street off of the Hang Dong Road near the airport so it is slightly outside of the main city.

Pun Pun does not actually claim to be vegetarian even though they are known for being a vegetarian food place. Mostly, they are. However, unfortunately they do offer some dishes with chicken or fish. Vegans will need to alter some dishes but they are always very willing to do this. Essentially, any dish can be made vegan.

The shakes are really good, water is free as usual and the plain juices can be bought for only 30 BAHT and topped up for free. The main dishes are also good, there is an interesting variety which isn’t just Thai food but includes burritos and even an interesting mix such as a laab burrito. The burritos are my personal favourite, despite having to asking them to hold back on the ingredients such as the yoghurt and sour cream. They have a few varieties and they are all pretty great. This is a nice space to eat in, plain and simple open air setting in their vegetable garden and nicely spacious.

In February 2019 they changed their hours to be open earlier and introduced a new breakfast menu. This includes western dishes such as a smoothie bowl, pancakes, muesli and granola. Most of these are either vegan or can be made vegan on request. We are big fans of the smoothie bowl in particular!

Something that we particularly appreciate about this restaurant is their awareness of sustainability issues. Their vegetables are grown in their own garden. They don’t use any plastic waste at all and use stainless straws which you can buy for yourself in their little store. This is something that every vegan-friendly restaurant should be mindful about.

After eating, don’t forget to take your plates to be washed at the back.

If you can get past the fact that it’s not all completely veggie, any vegan (or vegetarian) will enjoy the mix of options here.
